THE TWO SEAS THAT MEET BUT DON'T MIX

THE TWO SEAS THAT MEET BUT DON'T MIX

SCIENCE:

The Atlantic and Pacific Oceans don't mix. But why? According to Science, the two seas don't mix because of their difference in density. Density is the measure of mass present per unit volume. The lower the density, the lighter the object. The Atlantic Ocean contains much more salt as a result of which it is much denser. On the other hand, the water in the Pacific Ocean is less salty hence its density is much lower. Now, this difference in density due to salinity creates a kind of barrier called a Halocline, between the two oceans. As a result, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans don't mix easily.

ISLAM:

In Surah Rahman, Ayahs 19-20, Allah mentions that he released the two seas and made them meet, and places between them a barrier.

[55:19] He released the two seas,[of distinct characteristics] meeting [one another];

[55:20] Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.
