FORM OF THE CELESTIAL MATTER OF THE UNIVERSE
SCIENCE:
Today's scientists tell us that initially the celestial matter of the universe was in the form of Gas. And the Arabic word used in this verse of Surah Fussilat, Verse 11 is ‘Dukhan’. ‘Dukhan’ does not merely mean Gas, it specifically means ‘Smoke’. And today’s scientist say that smoke is a closer and more scientific word as compared to Gas.
ISLAM:
The Qur'an mentions in Surah Fussilat, Ayah 11:
[41:11] Then He turned towards the heaven when it was still like smoke, saying to it and to the earth, ‘Submit, willingly or unwillingly.’ They both responded, ‘We submit willingly.’
ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌۭ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ٱئْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًۭا قَالَتَآ أَتَيْنَا طَآئِعِينَ
