Eating lawful and wholesome food
Eating lawful and wholesome food
ISLAM:
The Qur’an advises us in Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 168:
[2:168] O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
Lawful (as used in the above Verse) refers to halal or haram, while wholesome/good food or whole food is merely a food that has retained its original constituents, meaning food that is not processed. For example, applesauce which is ground and cooked by machines, and then separated to create a better texture and supplemented with sugar and color, is not a whole food.
SCIENCE:
Whole foods can help to reduce your risk of heart disease by maintaining blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Eating them results in the formation of strong bones and teeth and a healthy heart.
